ESSENTIALS | SUMMER WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

Summer quite literally is right around the corner. I usually post these wardrobe essentials posts at the beginning of either Autumn or in this case Spring, but I seem to have been so caught up in other projects that I completely forgot about this project. So here it is; my summer wardrobe essentials, before it actually turns summer and I have no actual clue of what clothes I still need/want to get into my wardrobe.

The Tee dress

You would know that I am completely and utterly obsessed with t-shirt dresses, unless you've been living under a rock for most of the spring months of course. I am a big fan of the fit on me, so it's no surprise that these t-shirt dresses are included in my summer essentials post. I love the stripey ones just as much as the plain ones. These are from H&M and can be found in store if I am correct. The ones I own have had their best time and I am currently looking for replacements.

The Camisoles
Of course, my camisoles came back. They're a big must for me during summer and I like getting them in as many colours as I like. I usually go for black and white camisoles, as they go with absolutely anything. Buuuut I did come across a very pretty blue-ish/purple camisole, a colour I would normally never pick up, from Topshop. Camisoles are so easy to throw on whenever you don't have a clue of what you want to wear. The ones showed above are from Topshop, Zara and Forever 21. Primark en H&M also do some great cheap camisoles that I am still dying to get my hands on.

The Basics
Next are "the basics", an essential throughout the whole year. I usually get my basics at Zara, they go some really good tee's and last for around a year, then I throw them away and get a few new ones. If I feel spendy, I might hop into COS, All Saints or & Other Stories to get some more long-lasting basics.

The Outerwear
Finding coats to wear in summer without overheating isn't that big of a problem in cold and rainy Holland. So I would say, have a leather jacket ready for the colder days. My leather jackets usually are from Mango or ZARA.
If the weather decides to be really really summery, but you still have to deal with cold mornings, I would say; go for either (or both) a trenchcoat or a duster coat. Whites are really hot this year, and I'm still on the hunt for a pretty white duster coat. Forever21, ASOS and H&M usually do really good duster and trenchcoats. If you're looking to spend a bit more, I'd say go for ZARA.

The shorts
One of the few things I seem to lack in my summer wardrobe is a good pair of shorts. I've got my favourite boyfriend fit denim shorts, and of course have a few cute pairs of shorts, but that's pretty much it. Fringe is on trend this season so when I rediscovered my leather shorts I was delighted. They've become a bit too big now, so I might look into buying another pair soon. As I said before, summer whites are also big right now, so I'm still trying to find the perfect pair of white denim shorts. I've seen a couple over at Mango, Zara and Pull & Bear that might make the cut.

The Jeans
Ah jeans. How much I love my black jeans. I am in desperate need for some new pairs of jeans as all the ones I own usually are black. Black jeans are in my opinion the only jeans that look good on me. So I only own black jeans and 1 pair of boyfriend jeans. It's safe to say that I need to invest in a pair of white jeans, maybe even a pair of grey jeans if I'm feeling adventurous

The Smart Trouser
The smart trouser. A trend that, to my surprise, actually looks good with my short legs. Most of my smart trousers however are black and black can get quite overwhelming during summer, so I think I might have to invest in a pair of smart white trousers, maybe khaki, something I've seen at Urban Outfitters. Zara, Mango and ASOS also do some really good "smart trousers" if you're also on the hunt for a pair.

As you can tell I still need to invest in a few summer wardrobe essentials. I, of course, own a lot of shorts, skirts and all of that from last year, but my style has changed quite a bit. I've been into minimal clothing a lot this year, so it's not surprise that I want to invest in more minimal, maybe even a bit structured clothing instead of wearing prints that are all over the place.
